Linking is the core process that pairs a physical Electronic Shelf Label (ESL) with a specific item code (UPC/SKU). Creating this store mapping allows the storeLink platform to accurately generate and push the correct price, promotion, or stocking layout to the physical shelf edge.
How to Link a Device manually
While field deployments typically utilize a handheld scanner for bulk mapping, users can easily create or update an individual link directly from the web portal using the Device Management suite.
Initiate the Link: Navigate to Device Management > ESLs from the primary navigation menu and click the Link button.
Enter the Credentials: A dedicated assignment modal will open, displaying two primary data fields:
- ESL ID: Input the unique hardware alphanumeric string located on the physical ESL device.
- Product ID: Input the corresponding UPC or SKU for the product being mapped.
- Verify Field Activation: Both fields feature an "Enter text" placeholder. To prevent system errors, the final confirmation button remains grayed out until the platform detects a structurally valid format in both the Device ID and Product ID fields.
- Finalize the Mapping: * Confirm: Click the Link button to save the pairing. The modal will close automatically, and a confirmation banner reading "Image generation in Progress" will appear as the system begins rendering the new display template.
- Cancel: Click Cancel at any time to discard your inputs, close the window, and leave the existing hardware configurations untouched.
| 💡Pro-Tip: When to use "Relinking" - If you are performing a seasonal shelf reset and moving a physical label to a different product, you do not need to delete the device profile. Simply follow the exact same steps above using the same ESL ID and inputting the new Product ID. The system will automatically overwrite the previous mapping, terminate the old connection, and instantly generate a refreshed layout for the new item. |
