To accommodate multiple shelf facings, dual-placements, or cross-merchandising displays (e.g., an item placed on both a standard grocery shelf and a promotional endcap), storeLink allows a single Product ID / UPC to be assigned to multiple physical ESL devices simultaneously.
Important Hardware Rule: A physical ESL device can only display one product's data at a time. However, a single product's data can be mirrored across multiple ESL hardware units.
The Multi-Link Safety Prompt
To prevent accidental duplicate assignments during manual configurations, the system includes an automated safeguard:
If UPC 1 is already linked to ESL 1, and a user attempts to map that same UPC 1 to a new device (ESL 2), the system will display a confirmation modal:
"You are about to link this UPC to more than one device, do you want to proceed?"
- Cancel: Clicking this will abort the operation. The new assignment to ESL 2 is discarded, and the existing mapping remains unchanged.
- Yes: Clicking this confirms the action. UPC 1 will successfully link to ESL 2 while safely maintaining its original connection to ESL 1.
Data Grid & Order Presentation
When multi-linking is active, the platform adjusts its data presentation to ensure absolute tracking clarity across your views:
- The Multi-Link Indicator: A distinct multi-link icon will appear on every individual row in the data grid associated with that shared UPC, giving you a quick visual cue that the product is mirrored across multiple displays.
- Row Separation: Within the Device Management and Performance screens, each unique UPC-and-Device combination is granted its own independent row. This allows you to track and troubleshoot individual hardware units seamlessly.
| 💡Pro-Tip: Managing Endcap Removals - When a temporary promotional display is taken down, remember to navigate to Device Management, locate the specific row for the endcap's Device ID, and safely Unlink it. Because the system tracks these as separate row combinations, unlinking the promotional display will not disrupt the permanent, live label remaining on the home shelf. |
